New law term opens

ZIZ News—17th September, 2013–The new law term for the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court officially opened this morning while lawyers and judges alike congregated at the Sir Lee L Moore Judicial Service Complex.

This morning in front of the St. Kitts-Nevis Bar Association, newly appointed resident Judge Honorable Justice Darshan Ramdhani signalled the opening of the new law year for the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.

He added the rules governing the court system are a work in progress and work will continue for decades as they, the rules, continue to be fitted to the needs of the ever evolving societies.

Justice Ramdhani served more than 16 years at the bar in both civil and criminal arena in Grenada. He was the Solicitor General as well as senior counsel in the office of the district public prosecutor there.

Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Janice Pereira delivered via simulcast the opening address titled “the role of the court in the region’s socio-economic development” from the high court of justice in the Virgin Islands.

Prior to that there was a special church service at the co-cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
