Ambassadors and military officers attend highlight of Independence Anniversary

ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 24, 2010 (CUOPM) – British, French, Mexican and Canadian ambassadors were among visiting and local diplomats who graced the Ceremonial Parade on Monday to mark the 27th Anniversary of Independence.

Attending the Warner Park Cricket Stadium event were the Barbados-based British High Commissioner to St. Kitts and Nevis, His Excellency Paul Brummell; France’s Ambassador to St. Kitts and Nevis, His Excellency Michel Prom and Mrs. Suzanne Prom; Canada’s Barbados-based High Commissioner to St. Kitts and Nevis, Her Excellency Mrs. Ruth Archibald and Mexico’s Ambassador to St. Kitts and Nevis, His Excellency Geraldo Lozano.

The United States was represented by Charge D’Affaires at the United States Embassy in Barbados, Dr. Brent Hardt and Mrs. Saskia Hardt.

Also in attendance were Venezuela’s Resident Ambassador, His Excellency Cruz de Jesus Bello; Cuba’s Resident Ambassador His Excellency Jorge D. Payret Zubiaur; Brazil’s Resident Ambassador His Excellency Miguel Magalhaes; the new Resident Ambassador of the Republic of China on Taiwan, His Excellency Miguel Li-jey Tsao and OAS Representative in St. Kitts and Nevis, Mr. Starret Greene.

Also attending were United States and RSS military officers. They included United States Defence Attaché for Venezuela and the Eastern Caribbean, based in Venezuela, Commander Ronald Pailliot of the U.S. Coast Guard; Incoming United States Military Liaison Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Barbados, Commander Ted Gangsei of the U.S. Coast Guard and the Outgoing U.S. Military Liaison Officer, Lt. Colonel Edward Harvey of the U.S. Air Force.

RSS officials ASP Ifus McGillivary of the Grenada Police Force and Warrant Officer Cherrol Deane of the Barbados Defence Force also attended the ceremony.
