August 25 was declared Kim Collins day by the government of St. Kitts and Nevis in honour of one of his most significant accomplishments, the gold at the World Championships in Paris, France in 2003, some seven years ago.

Collins retired from International Athletics in September last year, one month short of a year, but still makes guest appearances on the international circuit in Europe and Asia.
