Canadian medical student killed in St Lucia car crash

CASTRIES, St Lucia (CMC) — A 25 year old medical student lost his life and his schoolmate is in stable condition following a motor vehicle accident on the St Jude’s Highway in the southern town of Vieux Fort on Saturday.

Dead is Omotayo ‘Tayo’ Morrison of Toronto, Canada and Maninder ‘Mani’ Kaur, 24, a US citizen, has been admitted to hospital with serious head injuries.

Both were student doctors at Spartan Health Sciences University in Vieux Fort where they also resided.

The police report that the two were walking along the St Jude’s Highway on Saturday morning when they were hit by a vehicle, driven by Caleb Antoine, 26, of La Ressource, Vieux Fort.

Morrison, succumbed to head injuries Saturday while Kaur remains in stable condition.

The driver of the vehicle has been detained for questioning.
