Chamber hand delivers congratulatory message nearly a month after poll

ST. KITTS, FEBRUARY 21, 2010 (CUOPM) – Nearly one month after the recent general elections, the St. Kitts-Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce hand-delivered a congratulatory message to the Office of the Prime Minister on Friday morning.

“On behalf of the St. Kitts-Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce, I congratulate you and the St. Kitts Nevis Labour Party on your recent return to office for a fourth term,” said the letter dated February 10th and delivered Friday addressed to Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas.

The letter, signed by the Chamber’s President, Mr. Mark Wilkin continued: “As your Cabinet begins a new term in office, our Board commits to continue working with Government on all matters affecting national development and is desirous of establishing dialogue with you on these matters at the earliest opportunity. In fact, we wish to reestablish the regular informal meetings between yourself and the Chamber as were conducted in previous years.”

The Chamber President added: “We welcome your statements since the elections committing your Government to improving the political climate in the country and to improving the service provided by the public sector. We believe genuinely in the need for a strong and vibrant public-private sector relationship and for unity and inclusiveness in promoting the development of the economy.”

Mr. Wilkin noted that a strong, national collective effort is demanded “if we are to take our country forward and maximize our potential as a people.”

“Once again, our Chamber wishes to register our commitment to partnership with Government on all such initiatives,” said the Chamber President.
