Digicel donates 50 FIFA shirts to local football referees

ZIZ News…March 9, 2010 – The Bigger, Better Network handed over in excess of 50 exclusive FIFA T-shirts to SKFRA (St. Kitts Football Referees Association) Referees. This marks yet another bold initiative undertaken by Digicel to demonstrate its unyielding support of sports both internationally and within the Federation.

As the major regional broadcast sponsor across the Caribbean of the FIFA Games in South Africa this year, Digicel continues to take a holistic approach when it comes to its continued sponsorship of football. The Bigger, Better Network aims to ensure that not only players, but also those who referee the game, all have the opportunity to professionally develop and get in on the exciting FIFA action.

Upon official handover of the shirts at Digicel’s Corporate Office, SKFRA President, Graeme Browne, applauded the proactive efforts made by Digicel to show its genuine support of the Association. “As a non-profit organization the SKFRA is committed to improving the standard of refereeing in St. Kitts, which will also help in improving our standard of football. So eventually we hope to see more of our referees gain selection on FIFA international referee lists. As we continue our training and development program for young referees in St. Kitts, the T-Shirts donated by Digicel will be used during these sessions as the official referee warm up gear for matches. For this gesture, the St. Kitts Football Referees Association is extremely grateful to Digicel and we would like to express our heartfelt thanks” he stated.

Digicel’s Marketing Manager, Sharez Laws, remarked “We are delighted to assist the referees by providing them with FIFA branded T-shirts which will be utilized in their training and development sessions. Often times we overlook persons who also aid in making football matches possible and this is our first step in ensuring that referees know they are remembered.
