Disruption of Liat service announced following pilots strike

A press release from Liat has informed passengers that flights will continue to be affected.

The airline’s pilots have taken industrial action throughout the network, by calling in sick since yesterday Wednesday June 16.

The pilots say, Liat is liable to pay all monies that are owed due to illegal deductions made from salaries; settle all retroactive public holiday payments; address concerns about the status of current pension deductions and sign-off on a new contract immediately following the settlement judgment.

In July 2009, disputed issues between Liat and Leeward Islands Airline Pilots Association were discussed at a meeting with shareholders, in St. Vincent.

Since then, Liat has participated in the agreed settlement process and complied with all directions given by the arbitrators.
