Distinguished panel to discuss financial matters

ZIZ News…Nov. 23, 2010 – Four eminent persons have been empanelled to address financial matters of interests to citizens and residents alike. The panel organized as part of a week long commemorative programme in honor of 17 years of service by Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, is headlined by Sir Edmund Lawrence, banking legend and Managing Director of the St. Kitts-Nevis and Anguilla National Bank. Also in the line up are Mr Michael Martin, CEO of Caribbean Financial Associates, Mrs Pearl Williams, OECS Credit Director of Courts and Mrs Sheryl Bass, Manager, St Kitts Cooperative Credit Union. The forum will be chaired by Mr. Frank Maitland, partner in the firm Maitland, Maloney. Among the issues to be addressed will be money management, opportunities for credit facilitation by commercial banks, the role of Credit Unions and insurance as a source of protection and assistance.

Dr Harris said the forum is opened to all persons. “It is expected to be a very informative session addressing several issues of concern to the national community. At this time of financial challenge people are experiencing difficulties in accessing loans and credit facilities. We have drawn on some of the best practitioners in these areas to deal with these matters”.

Senior Minister Harris continued “I am assured that everyone will be better informed and empowered from attending the Town Hall. It is a forum designed for all persons, be they self employed, unemployed, teachers, doctors, lawyers, the farmers, the fishermen, shopkeepers etc, etc.

The venue for the town hall meeting is the Edgar T Morris Primary School, Main Street, Tabernacle. Dr Harris said the forum should get started at 7 pm.
