“The month of June marks a significant celebration in our nation’s calendar – Child Month. And today, with a heart full of gratitude, pride, and genuine excitement, I am eager to launch the 41st edition of Child Month in St. Kitts and Nevis. Our children are our greatest treasure and our nation’s future.  It is therefore with immense joy, tremendous pride, and great confidence in the potential of our children that I officially declare Child Month 2026 It is therefore with immense joy, tremendous pride, and great confidence in the potential of our children that I officially declare Child Month 2026 open.”

Illuminating the importance of the theme ‘Fueling Our Bodies with The Best: Good Nutrition, Movement and Rest’, Dr. Hanley asserted

“This year’s theme highlights three important pillars that are essential for the growth and development of our nation’s children: good nutrition, movement, and rest. Wholesome and balanced meals help to nourish our children’s bodies and minds. Our children need foods that strengthen, energize, and help them to reach their full potential. Children are naturally active, and physical activity plays a critical role in their physical, emotional, and social development. Proper rest allows children’s bodies and minds to recover, recharge, and grow. Adequate sleep supports learning, improves concentration, and contributes greatly to overall wellbeing. Thus, every healthy meal, every opportunity for play and movement, and every moment of proper rest contributes to building stronger, happier, and healthier children who will one day lead this Federation forward.”

Expounding on the month of activities Minister Hanley proffered an invitation to participate and encouraged all to mirror the essence of the guiding theme.

“Fellow citizens residents, and visitors, Child Month 2026 promises to be both exciting and meaningful, with activities designed to bring our theme to life in engaging and memorable ways. I encourage every parent, guardian, teacher, caregiver, and community member to fully embrace the message of “Fueling Our Bodies with The Best: Good Nutrition, Movement and Rest. Let us work together to ensure that healthy habits become a lasting part of our children’s daily lives, not just during Child Month, but throughout the entire year.”
