Former Trinidad and Tobago PM retains leadership of opposition party

Former prime minister and incumbent leader of the United National Congress (UNC) opposition party in Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, has been re-elected political leader by an overwhelming majority.

Persad Bissessar had been urging all of the 102,900 UNC members to cast their vote in Sunday’s election, telling them that the true enemy of the party was “the government of Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley”, the Trinidad Guardian reported.
