Jamaica records first case of Coronavirus disease

Jamaica's Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Christopher Tufton

Kingston, Jamaica, January 28, 2020 (Jamaica Observer):  Jamaica has confirmed its first imported case of COVID-19 in Kingston.

The patient is a Jamaican woman who was in isolation.

Health Minister Dr Chris Tufton said the person was screened in the normal course of activities at the port of entry, but did not have symptoms until days after arriving.

She subsequently visited her doctor.

She visited the United Kingdom, and is believed to hold dual citizenship.

The ministry is tracing all individuals who came into contact with the patient, and they are all being isolated to their homes for observation.
