Man remanded for attempting to export ganja to Curacao

HammerOfJusticeCKingston, Jamaica — A May Pen labourer who attempted to smuggle over two pounds of ganja to Curacao has been remanded for sentencing next month.

Twenty-four- year-old Shandell Williams entered a guilty plea to the charges possession of ganja, dealing in ganja and taking steps to export ganja, when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

The court was told that a search revealed a total of 75 parcels of cylindrical-shaped compressed vegetable matter resembling ganja in Williams’ possession.

Forty of the parcels were found concealed in a shampoo bottle and the remainder of the drug strapped to Williams’ torso.

He is to return to court on November 14 for sentencing date.
