New High Court Judge pays courtesy call on PM Douglas

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 8TH 2010 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts’ new High Court Judge, His Lordship Mr. Justice Errol Thomas, has paid a courtesy call on St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas.

The former Antigua High Court Judge arrived in St. Kitts on Saturday 31st July and was sworn in as Resident Judge of the St. Kitts Circuit on Thursday 2nd September by Registrar of the High Court, Mrs. Claudette Jenkins during a ceremony at Government House, witnessed by St. Kitts and Nevis’ Governor General His Excellency Dr. Sir Cuthbert Sebastian and Attorney General, the Hon. Patrice Nisbett.

The St. Vincent-born jurist began his first working day on Friday 3rd September and on Tuesday 7th September paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas.

Justice Thomas holds a BA degree from Carleton University, Canada; an LL.B degree from the University of the West Indies; a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad & Tobago and an LLM degree from the University of the West Indies.

He has been called to the bar in Barbados, St. Lucia and Grenada and is a former Crown Counsel, Attorney General’s Chambers, Barbados; Parliamentary Counsel [Ag], Attorney General’s Chambers, Barbados; Senior Parliamentary Counsel, Attorney General’s Chambers, Barbados; Registrar of Titles, Ministry of Housing, Lands and the Environment, Barbados; Solicitor General, Attorney General’s Chambers, St. Lucia; Attorney General of Grenada and High Court Judge, Antigua.
