PhunnMakers Mas Camp launches costumes for Sugar Mas 2K10

St.Kitts – Nov. 11, 2010 – PhunnMakers Mas Camp revealed their costumes and plans for the National Carnival 2010 – 2011 at a launch last Friday 5th at their mas camp which they have entitled, the Phunn Spot. Located at the corner of Kim Collins Highway and Frigate Bay Road, this area will prove to be a major entertainment centre for this year’s carnival with weekend limes and midweek jams.

This year’s presentation De Calypso Legend is a salute to our Maestro King Ellie Matt -The Man, His Music, Our Mas. The 4 sections will portray some of the most popular songs from King Ellie Matt:

From 1982, Viva St. Kitts is the patriotic section with colours of our national flag green, black, red, yellow and white and emphasized with designs of our national flower.

From 1982, Patsy, the saucy hot and vivacious girl who had she Mama up a gum tree. Colours: fuschia, pink and green.

From 1980, De Wicker Fifer a tribute to our cultural icon the rhythm of our indigenous music. Colours bronze, orange and lime green lace.

From 1977 – Sugar City Jam with colours of yellow and green adorned with jewels. This portrays how Kittitians dress up to come out to jam, while using the colours of sugar cane our long time bread basket of our economy.

PhunnMakers Mas camp is currently the longest running carnival troupe whose philosophy is based upon the theme of being authentic Kittitian while expressing creative pageantry in a kaleidoscope of cultural elements.

This year PhunnMakers De Calypso Legend is supported by our long time sponsor Carib Brewery and we also welcome on board Brinley Gold and Grace Tropical through their agent OD Brisbane for which we give our heartiest thanks. PhunnMakers Mas Camp is poised and ready to have the usual “phunn” for this carnival with its presentation De Calypso Legend. Celebrating 10 years, the organizer Dr. Christine Walwyn is supported by a cadre of genuine and original PhunnMakers.
