The process cemented the region’s distinguished record of executing free and fair elections.”

Dr. Douglas told Chief Minister Hughes that he was certain that under his guidance, Anguilla and by extension its citizens will prosper and all parties will unite for the mutual benefit of the entire country in ensuring the new Government achieves its desired objectives.

“This period of financial difficulties afflicting the region will undoubtedly make your tenure very challenging and I look forward to working with you on the regional stage,” said Dr. Douglas, who is also the current Chairman of the Authority of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean (OECS) Heads of Government.

He expressed his “deepest wish that the bonds between our two countries will be further strengthened and I humbly offer my support as you take the reins of leadership.”
