Police investigates a series of shooting incidents; among them one murder

ZIZ News…June 1, 2010 – On Monday 31st May 2010 at approximately 10:38 pm police responded to a report of shooting at Central Fiennes Avenue. Police investigations revealed that Sylvester Lee, 30 years old of Upper Fiennes Avenue was at Central Fiennes Avenue when he was shot multiple times and succumbed to his injuries on the scene. The coroner was informed and gave permission for Lee’s body to be removed. The scene was processed by officers of the crime scene department and a number of spent shells and items of evidential value were collected and taken into police custody for analysis and the deceased was transported to a funeral home under police escort. An autopsy will be performed at a later date to determine the cause of death.

Meanwhile, police investigations also revealed that out of the said shooting where Sylvester Lee, 30 years old of Upper Fiennes Avenue was shot and killed, Devon Jeffers of Trafalgar Village was also shot in both legs and was transported to the JNF Hospital in a private vehicle where he underwent emergency surgery and has been warded in stable condition. There are no suspects in custody at this time, however, investigations are ongoing.

In another shooting matter – On Monday 31st May 2010 at approximately 10:55 pm police responded to a report of gunshots heard at the West Basseterre By-Pass Road. Police investigations revealed that Jahmari Lake, 28 years old of Shadwell was at the western end of the West Basseterre By-Pass Road when an unknown gun man exited a car and shot him in his leg. Lake was taken to the JNF Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and is reported to be in stable condition. There are no suspects in custody at this time, however, investigations are ongoing.
