A continuance has been granted in the ongoing bribery case against the former permanent representative of Antigua and Barbuda to the United Nations, John Ashe. A previously scheduled pretrial conference for April 8 was adjourned to May 5 at the request of US Attorney Preet Bharara.
Ashe, a former president of the UN General Assembly, was arrested in New York in October on charges of engaging in a widespread corruption scheme.
