Premier wishes Centenarian Happy Birthday

Lillian Hill celebrating her 100th birthday

(Charlestown, Nevis…Wednesday, August 4th, 2010) – Premier of Nevis, Hon. Joseph Parry wished Nevisian Native, Lillian Hill best wishes on reaching 100 years at a special service held in her honor. The celebration took place on Sunday at the House of Deliverance New Testament Church in Tabernacle, St.Kitts.

“Ms. Hill, who is from my village of Cotton Ground worked hard to take care of her family during the hard years in Nevis. God has truly blessed her by giving her 100 years, a sound body and mind,” commented Premier Parry.

During the service Premier Parry thanked the family of Ms. Hill for taking care of her and making her golden years comfortable.

He went on to say that it is a tradition of African people to take care of their elderly at home.

“I am happy to see that Lillian is at home getting special care by her granddaughter, Lucretia Sergeant. It is one of our traditions to honor and care for our elderly and we must continue the custom.”

Lillian Hill who hails from a simple, humble background was celebrated at the service by dignitary’s including Governor General, His Excellency Sir. Dr. Cuthbert Sebastian, Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Sam Condor and area Parliamentary Representative for Constituency #7, Hon. Timothy Harris.

Also attending the church service were Ombudsman of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, H.E Ambassador Walford Gumbs and Ambassador of the Republic of China on Taiwan H.E Rong Chuan Wu.
