Regional Security System training course #2-2010 held in St.Kitts

ZIZ News…July 5, 2010 – July the 5th 2010 marks an important day in the history of the Regional Security System (RSS) and the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force.

That’s according to Superintendent Terrance Noel from the RSS headquarters in Barbados. In a brief opening ceremony Superintendent Noel stated, ‘This is the first time a course of this nature has been done in a member state for students of one country. It is also the first time the RSS is conducting two courses at the same time.’

He says that the RSS Basic Training Course 1 -2010 is underway in Barbados and Course 2 – 2010 is being executed in St.kitts.

For the next eight weeks, the rss and the police force will be partnering to manage 23 constables taking the rss Basic Course No 2-2010.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr Stafford Liburd says it was requested to have the rss course administered here in St.Kitts.

He says based on the increase in crime and violence, the training is critical: “We are in a time when criminal activity involving the use of weapon is ever increasing…We are in a time when people are demanding that we become physically fit and mentally alert to meet the challenges.”

The Deputy Commissioner hopes the training course will place each officer in a better position.

Sergeant Eldrin Dickenson of St.Kitts will be assisting Superintendent Terrance Noel.

The rss’s mantra is ‘strength through unity.’
