Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Conference to be held in St. Kitts

ZIZ News…Sept. 13, 2010 – The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Conference of Rotary International District 7030 will be held in St. Kitts & Nevis for the first time this year.

Plans are continuing apace to ensure that this year’s RYLA Conference to be held from 30 October to 1 November 2010 here in St. Kitts & Nevis will be a most rewarding experience for the participants. Although our Rotary District (7030) covers the region from French Guiana (Cayenne) in the South to St. Kitts & Nevis in the North, participants are expected to be drawn from other territories outside of District 7030 as well.

Since the inception of this Rotary International (RI) programme in 1961, it has been instrumental in developing the leadership skills of young leaders, both in public and private life, throughout the world. Each year in excess of 9000 young people have benefitted from this programme.

RYLA St. Kitts Nevis 2010 is geared towards youth aged 16 to 25 years old. Leaders/Presidents of youth groups within the Federation are being invited to submit prospective participants whom they believe qualify based on the criteria stated above. It is our belief that your members would stand to benefit by an increased awareness of important social issues as presented by knowledgeable resource persons, and by the development of their self-confidence and their leadership potential, especially in relation to their peers. The final decision on those accepted as participants will be made by our Outreach/Recruitment Committee which is lead by Chairman, Rotarian Director William White.
