SKB Lion Terrence ‘Tebo’ Richards Appointed to Higher Office

ZIZ News…June 3, 2010 – With a sense of pride and achievement, the St. Kitts Basseterre Lions Club delegates returned to the Federation following the Multiple District (MD) 60 Convention in St. Maarten. The convention took place over the weekend May 19 to 23 2010. Not only did the team place first in the MD60 Convention parade, a position held for the last three years by Trinidad and Tobago; but also more importantly Kittitian born Immediate Past SKB Lions President Terrance Richards was appointed Chief Administrative officer of Zone 2C.

With just over 45,000 clubs and more than 1.3 million members, Lions Club International is the world’s largest service club organization. Most Lions clubs are part of a district, which is usually composed of at least 35 clubs of at least 1,250 members. Districts are divided into regions that are then broken down into zones. Each zone has not more than eight clubs presided over by a Zone Chairperson. These officers form the District Governor’s Advisory Committee. Their responsibilities include organizing new clubs and keeping informed on the activities and well-being of all clubs in the zone.

MD 60 comprise Barbados, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, St. Vincent, Grenada, Guyana, St. Lucia, Dominica, Antigua-Barbuda, St. Christopher and Nevis, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Montserrat, British Virgin Islands, Netherland Antilles, Anguilla and French Guiana,

Mr. Terrence Richards, an IT Specialist and Microsoft Certified Professional, is currently the Manager of Technology for the TDC Group of Companies Ltd. He holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science, a postgraduate Honors Diploma in Information Technology (PgD.IT) and a Masters degree (M.Sc.) in Information Systems Management and e-Commerce from the Keller Graduate School of Management of De Vry University.

His passion for service and adventure began as a member of the 4-H Club. Since then he has been an active member of various community service and social groups. He has served in several leadership capacities including President of the St. Kitts Basseterre Lions Club, Vice President of the St. Kitts Jaycees, Director of the Shaping Our Society (SOS) Club, and co-organizer for M.E.D.I.A. (Management Educational Development & Information Advocates).

His other interests include nature, hiking, travelling, swimming, sports and culture. He is a co-leader of the Liamuiga Folk Singers Cultural Group. The UNB Bicentennial Choir, Metro Toronto GOG Choir, ECCB Note$, BCG Choir and the St Christopher Choral Society have all benefitted from Terry’s rich voice. Mr. Richards is married and has three children. The members of the St. Kitts Lions wish to congratulate Lion Terry on his well-deserved achievement.
