St. Kitts and Nevis gets assistance from Morocco in education and youth empowerment

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, AUGUST 19TH 2010 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis is to get assistance from the Kingdom of Morocco in the field of education, agriculture and youth empowerment.

The assistance was agreed to during the recent visit to the Federation by a delegation from Morocco headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, His Excellency Taib Fassi Fihri.

Following seperate discussions with Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Sam Condor, agreement was reached for Morocco to provide US$250,000 annually over a three year period for the Federation’s Youth Empowerment Programme and vocational skills training.

Morocco will also grant 10 scholarships at University level to nationals of St. Kitts and Nevis starting in September this year and supply a quantity of fertilizer at preferential rate to assist small farmers in the promotion of agricultural production.
