St. Kitts and Nevis to remember those who died in world wars

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 7TH 2012 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis will on Sunday 11th November, remember its nationals who fought and died in the two World Wars.

The non-denominational National Day of Remembrance Service to those who gave their lives in World War I from 1914 to 1918 and World War II from 1939 to 1945 will be observed with the Laying of Wreaths at the War Memorial or Cenotaph on the Bay Road.

The Service commences at 8 ‘o’ clock in the morning following the arrival of His Excellency the Governor General and the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister, with the firing of a gun signaling the start and end of the observance of two minutes silence and the playing of The Last Post.

Representatives of the St. Kitts Evangelical Association and the St. Kitts Christian Council will conduct the service which will end with the laying of wreaths.

Wreaths will be laid by His Excellency the Governor General, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister, followed by representatives of the British Government, the British Commonwealth Ex-Servicemen League, the President of the Ex-Servicemen League, the Commander of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force, the Commissioner of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, the Nurses, Red Cross, St. John’s Ambulance Brigade, Scouts, Guides, the 4-H, the Seventh Day Adventist Pathfinders and members of the general public.
