St. Kitts Earns Top Island and Diving Honours

BASSETERRE — St. Kitts has been named one of the Top 20 Islands in the Caribbean and Atlantic in the 2026 Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards, and one of the best in 11 categories of the 2027 Scuba Diving Readers’ Choice Awards, including Best Overall.

The St. Kitts Tourism Authority (SKTA) thanked those who took part in the Condé Nast Traveller vote. “Thank you to everyone who visited, fell for this island, and voted. This one belongs to you, and to every Kittitian who makes people feel at home here,” the authority said.

The Scuba Diving awards are decided by votes from the magazine’s readers, who rate destinations they have dived themselves. The 11 honours, awarded under the St. Kitts listing, cover the island’s dive sites, marine life and reef condition. They also recognise its appeal to divers at every level, from first-timers and snorkellers to advanced divers and underwater photographers.

SKTA Chief Executive Officer Kelly Fontenelle said the recognition carries weight because of who awarded it. “Divers are a discerning audience, and these 11 honours come directly from them,” she said. “To be recognised for everything from our wrecks and walls to the health of our marine environment tells us that what lies beneath our waters is as compelling as what visitors find on shore.”

Fontenelle credited local dive operators and those working to protect the island’s reefs. “This recognition belongs equally to our dive operators and to everyone who works to protect our reefs,” she said.

She added that the destination welcomes divers of all experience levels. “Whether you are taking your first breath underwater, descending a wall with a camera in hand or simply snorkelling off the beach, St. Kitts has a place for you. We invite divers everywhere to come and see why their peers voted for us.”

To verify:

  • Your source doesn’t say where St. Kitts placed within the Condé Nast Traveller Top 20, so I left out a ranking.
  • It also doesn’t list the other 10 Scuba Diving categories. If you have them, naming a few would strengthen the story.
  • I attributed the first quote to the SKTA as a whole, as in your source. Confirm that’s how you want it credited.
  • I used “Condé Nast Traveller” as written in your material.
