St. Paul’s Over Old Road 1-0

BASSETERRE — S.L. Horsfords St. Paul’s United handed defending champions MFCR Old Road United Jets their second straight loss to open the 2026-’27 SKNFA/National Bank Group Premier League season, winning 1-0 Sunday in a week-two marquee clash at the National Bank Group Technical Center.

The result leaves Old Road winless through two matches, a stunning start for a club that went unbeaten all of last season en route to the title. St. Paul’s, meanwhile, remain unbeaten through two matches and stay among the league’s early pace-setters.

Earlier Sunday, Development Bank St. Peters FC routed Lodge Patriots 5-1, picking up their first win of the season after opening with a scoreless draw against Cayon Rockets in Week One. The result also marks Lodge Patriots’ second loss in two matches, leaving them still searching for their first win of the campaign.

Sunday’s results close out a busy Matchweek Two that saw Dieppe Bay Eagles’ perfect start checked in a 2-2 draw with Conaree FC on Friday, Newtown United defeat Garden Hotspurs 2-0 on Saturday, and Village Superstars play to a 2-2 draw with Cayon Rockets, also on Saturday.

Old Road’s back-to-back defeats mark an unfamiliar position for the club after last season’s historic unbeaten championship run. The Jets opened this campaign with a 2-0 loss to Newtown United in Week One before Sunday’s setback against St. Paul’s, leaving them still searching for their first points of the new season.

For St. Paul’s United, the win over Old Road caps an unbeaten start built on a 3-0 victory over Conaree FC in Week One. The club finished last season in fifth place with 27 points despite carrying a six-point deduction for disciplinary sanctions, and an unbeaten start to this campaign suggests they remain one of the league’s strongest sides.
