St. Peter’s Throttles Lodge for First Win

BASSETERRE — Development Bank St. Peters FC picked up their first win of the 2026-’27 SKNFA/National Bank Group Premier League season Sunday, routing 607 Construction Lodge Patriots 5-1 at the National Bank Group Technical Center.

The result moves St. Peters to their best position yet through two matches, following a scoreless draw against Cayon Rockets FC in Week One in which the club played more than 45 minutes against nine men. Sunday’s five-goal outburst marks a significant offensive statement after that goalless opener.

For Lodge Patriots, the loss is their second in as many matches to start the season. The club opened with a 5-1 defeat to Dieppe Bay Eagles in Week One and now sits winless and without a goal scored of their own through two weeks, having conceded 10 goals across their first two matches.

St. Peters’ win comes on the back of a strong finish to last season, when the club tied for third place with Cayon Rockets on 28 points and qualified for the Final Four playoffs alongside eventual unbeaten champions Old Road United Jets, Newtown United and Cayon. That postseason experience showed in Sunday’s result, as St. Peters shook off a slow start to the new campaign with a dominant performance.

Sunday’s rout was part of a busy day of Matchweek Two action that also saw SL Horsford St. Paul’s United hand defending champions Old Road United Jets their second straight loss, 1-0, in the round’s marquee clash.

With Matchweek Two complete, St. Peters join Dieppe Bay Eagles, Village Superstars, Newtown United, St. Paul’s United and Cayon Rockets among six clubs unbeaten through two matches. Old Road United Jets, Conaree FC, Lodge Patriots and Garden Hotspurs have each suffered at least one defeat.

St. Peters will look to carry Sunday’s momentum forward as the league moves into Matchweek Three, while Lodge Patriots face an early test to turn their promotion-season campaign around after two lopsided defeats to open the top flight.
