Tropical Storm Irma heads towards the Caribbean

Tropical Storm Irma has formed in the far eastern Atlantic and is reported to be intensifying steadily as it moves westwards towards the Caribbean.

According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami, at 5:00 pm EDT on Wednesday, the centre of Tropical Storm Irma was located about 480 miles (770 km) west of the Cabo Verde Islands, moving toward the west near 15 mph (24 km/h).
