Washington Archibald High School students excel

St. Kitts, November 6, 2010 (SKNIS): Students of the Washington Archibald High School are excelling locally and regionally; based on two recent reports from the Ministry of Education.

Permanent Secretary of Education, Mr. Osmond Petty who released the most recent report, congratulated Amanda Greene who has been identified as the recipient of the US Embassy/CXC National Award for Outstanding Performance in Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEC) in Barbados and the OECS.

The USD$500 award is granted to students with at least eight, grade 1 passes (distinctions), one in each of the eight specified in the criteria for the award. The winner also receives a commemorative plaque from CXC.

Ms Greene who performed outstandingly, achieved Grade 1 in eight subjects and grade 2 in one subject.

The Ministry of Education has expressed congratulations to Ms Greene and her family as well as the Washington Archibald High School. The institution previously celebrated another award that was presented to a Ms. Zoe Hamilton for gaining the regional Best Short Story Prize in CXC examinations.
