We do not depend on government for financial assistance says SKNAAA president

ZIZ Sports…March 9, 2010 – The St. Kitts and Nevis Amateur Athletic Association has clearly stated that the association has not seeked financial support from the government of St. Kitts and Nevis in decades.

The statement was made by president for the SKNAAA’s, Glen Jeffers. The president was at the time responding to a question asked by a media personnel during a recent press briefing, about the association’s financial status.

The St. Kitts and Nevis Amateur Athletic Association was established in 1977 after separating from the St. Kitts Amateur Athletic and Cycling Association.

Meanwhile, a challenge has been issued to the media by the SKNAAA to assist in the promotion of new and upcoming athletes.

Lester Hanley, the Vice President for the St. Kitts and Nevis Amateur Athletic Association said the local media needs to play a more important role in exposing these young and upcoming athletes in order for the public to know about them.
