Woman nabbed at Kingston airport with cocaine worth J$7m

KINGSTON, Jamaica – A woman was arrested and charged at the Norman Manley International Airport on Tuesday, August 12 after approximately 13 pounds of cocaine was found in her luggage.

The police report that the substance was found during a security procedure about 12:15 pm when officials searched the luggage belonging to 51-year-old Elowaine Brackett, who arrived in the island from Trinidad. The cocaine has an approximate street value of J$7 million.

Brackett is scheduled to appear in the Corporate Area Criminal Court on Friday, August 15 to answer to charges of possession of and dealing in cocaine and importing cocaine.
