Old Road Crush Lodge 12-1
ST. PETER’S — MFCR Old Road United Jets scored seven goals before halftime, to beat 607 Construction Lodge Patriots 12-1 on Friday night, with Tiquanny Williams and Stanley Province each scoring a hat trick as the SKNFA/National Bank Group Premier League returned from its CONCACAF Nation’s League break.
Williams opened the scoring in the 12th minute, and Province made it 2-0 in the 25th. Williams scored again in the 27th and 30th minutes, completing his hat trick inside the first half-hour. Nequan Browne added goals in the 33rd and 40th minutes, and Province scored his second in the 37th as the defending champions led 7-0 at the break.
Province completed his hat trick in the 53rd minute, shortly before the Jets made three changes in the 57th. Lodge Patriots’ Javern Matthew pulled one back in the 58th minute, but Old Road scored four more. Jardel Isaac scored in the 61st, Nickeel Pemberton in the 64th, Adondre Eddy in the 70th and Kenny Yassel in the 73rd.
Williams, the Old Road captain, was substituted in the 74th minute. Old Road also changed goalkeepers at that point, with Zian Drew replacing Clifford Samuel. Jahshawn Stanley, a second-half substitute for Old Road, received the match’s only yellow card in the 84th minute. No red cards were shown.
The 12 goals are more than Old Road scored in their 9-1 win over Bath United last April, which was their biggest win of last season. They have now scored 20 times in two matches after being held scoreless in their first two games of the campaign. Williams has nine league goals this season, six from his performance against TGE Dieppe Bay Eagles in Week Three and three on Friday.
The win gives Old Road six points from four matches, which puts them fourth in the table ahead of the weekend’s remaining fixtures. Lodge Patriots are still without a point after four matches, having scored three goals and conceded 24. Matthew, who scored Lodge’s lone goal against Dieppe Bay in Week One, was last season’s Division 1 top scorer with 24 goals.
