Last Year’s Runner-Up Eliminated; Five Contestants Remain
BASSETERRE — Romecia Prentice, last year’s First Runner-Up, was eliminated from S.L. Horsfords Kittitian Superstar on Thursday night, leaving five contestants in the competition as they took on the Singer’s Choice round.
Prentice was announced as the contestant eliminated from the reggae round, which brought Group 1 and Group 2 together for the first time this season. Her exit narrows the field from six to five, with four spots remaining in the Grand Finale.
The five contestants still in contention are Shakquanda Thomas and Zariah Frances from Group 1, and Venelle Powell, Shezlyn Ward and Angela Samuel from Group 2.
In the Singer’s Choice round, contestants selected their own songs and were free to perform in any genre. It followed the Gospel, R&B and reggae rounds, which each required a set style of music.
Prentice finished second in the 2025 competition with 267 points, narrowly behind winner Iquanja Bradley, who earned 270. She is the third contestant from Group 1 to leave this season, after Erica Doras Pemberton was eliminated from the R&B round. Two Group 2 contestants, Keshauna Amos and Caldra Evans, were eliminated from the Gospel and R&B rounds respectively.
Four contestants will advance to the Grand Finale, where each finalist will perform two songs, one a cappella and one with music.
S.L. Horsfords Kittitian Superstar airs every Thursday at 8 p.m. on ZIZ TV Channel 5 and across ZIZ social media platforms. The competition is produced by ZIZ Broadcasting Corporation, with S L Horsfords and Company Limited as the title sponsor.
