Dynamic Manchester becomes focus for strengthening St. Kitts partnerships

Basseterre (23 MAY 2011): The dynamic city of Manchester became a focal point today when CEO, Rosecita Jeffers, hosted an intimate luncheon event for key travel media and tour operators, as part of her official visit to the UK.
Hosted by St. Kitts and British Airways at Manchester’s exclusive restaurant, The Living Room, the event focused on strengthening relationships with partners based in the North West to keep the destination top of mind. Through the CEO and the UK team, the St. Kitts’ message highlighted the island’s key attributes, the positive impact of the BA route and range of holiday experiences available for visitors.
One-to-one discussions with trade partners including Travel Counsellors, Gold Medal/Thomas Cook, Worldwide Travel Solutions and Azure, focused on how to stimulate growth in sales while those with the media, which included Manchester Confidential, underlined specific aspects of the destination which would appeal to their individual readers.
Partners supporting the event were Sara Dolan of British Airways and Anna Blyth of Resort Marketing, the UK representative of Rawlins Plantation Inn, who provided details on special offers currently available in the market.
Rosecita Jeffers said, “It was positive to see such a good turnout of tour operators and journalists at the event. As a region with such high-profile media as well as being the base for several key travel companies, Manchester is the ideal platform to establish new business as well as to build on trade partnerships. We have more understanding of what appeals to our partners’ clients and how we can work together to stimulate growth. The journalists are now even keener to visit the destination as they see the island as having a high appeal to their audience. ”
St. Kitts is currently served twice-weekly on Saturday and Tuesday from London Gatwick by British Airways, the first scheduled carrier to provide regular airlift to the island. The BA aircraft uses a three class, 280 seat Boeing 777 aircraft holding 40 Club World seats, 24 World Traveler Plus and 216 World Traveler seats.
