Three cruise ships to berth this week, over 6,000 passengers visited on the weekend

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 17TH 2011 (CUOPM) – Three cruise ships are scheduled to visit St. Kitts this week.

The St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) said over 6,000 cruise passengers visited St. Kitts from two cruise ships this past weekend.The 3,050-passenger capacity Carnival Victory arrived with 3,146 passengers and a crew of 1,039 on Friday from St. Lucia.

On Saturday, the 3,100-passenger capacity Emerald Princess with 3,058 passengers and 1,186 crew on board arrived from Barbados before leaving for St. Thomas.

Most of the 6,204 passengers from the Carnival Victory and the Emerald Princess came ashore and went on sight-seeing tours in Basseterre and island wide via the St. Kitts Scenic Railway, buses or taxis. Scores also headed for the sea and sun bathing on the beaches, snorkeling, sailing, horseback riding and shopping.

The first of the three cruise ships to visit this week will be the 2,540 passenger capacity Serenade of the Seas. The Carnival Victory will keep its scheduled visit on Friday and the 2,680-passenger capacity ship “Carnival Miracle berths on Saturday.

A visit by the Carnival Victory next week Friday will end the visits by ships in October.

An estimated 84,000 cruise passengers from 38 ship calls are scheduled for November.

They include inaugural calls by the 2,500-passenger capacity Jewel of the Seas, the 2,850-passenger capacity Celebrity Silhouette, the 2,281-passenger capacity Mein Schiff 2, the 450-passenger Seabourne Quest and the 3,840-passenger capacity Navigator of the Seas.
