BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 25TH 2011 (CUOPM) – Social Security says it has been making its contribution to national projects and national development “to make life easier for our citizens, residents and visitors.” Social Security’s Public Relations official, Mr. Chesil Hamilton said in a recent “Social Security Five” radio programme, that the Social Security Board makes an annual donation to the Ministries of Health on both islands of Nevis and St. Kitts.

He said over EC$8 million has been spent in this area.

“This money has been used to upgrade many of our health centers and our hospitals, as well as to train and retrain health professionals,” said Mr. Hamilton. He said some of the Board’s more recent notable donations to Health were a gas blood analyzer and mobile x-ray machine in St. Kitts, the dental clinic in Charlestown, Nevis and a special utility truck to the solid waste authority in Nevis.

EC$135,000 was donated to the Ministry of National Security to enhance the patrolling capability of the security forces as they combat the crime and violence challenges that are plaguing the nation.
