25 Most Remarkable Teens in St. Kitts

Twenty-five of the federation’s most remarkable teens were honoured Wednesday November 23 during a ceremony held at the Parliamentary Lounge at Government Headquarters.

ZIZ spoke with the Deputy Prime Minister The Honorable Sam Condor who said the ceremony was a historic occasion.

“The event was an exceptionally good one for the government and people of this country. It was in my view a historic occasion…It was one where we recognized the accomplishment of our youth from all different fields of endeavors…It was a testimony of ordinary people doing extraordinary things, and that was the story for the whole night.”

The 25 youth were selected from a pool of 100 persons who were nominated in various categories including Courage to Overcome, Music, Leadership, Civic Involvement, Most Promising Teen, Community Service, Spiritual Commitment and the like.

United States Peace Corps Volunteer Connie Howard is spearheading the activity for the Department of Youth Empowerment.

The 25 Most Remarkable Teens in St. Kitts programme is modeled after a similar programme in California, USA. Ms. Howard’s decision to replicate the award initiative was based on an expression by the Minister of Youth Empowerment Honourable Glenn Phillip to raise the profile of positive youth doing remarkable things.
