NHC aims to invest in the people through Habitat 30

ZIZ News — The National Housing Corporation, in collaboration with the government of St. Kitts and Nevis, will be building 1000 thousand homes under the Independence 30 Habitat Housing Initiative.

During his remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony of the housing initiative in Fig Tree, Sandy Point, Minister of Housing, Honourable Asim Martin, spoke of the investment the NHC would have made upon completion of the eleven house project.

“Upon the completion of this housing project in high point in fig tree, National Housing Corporation will have invested almost 3 million dollars– 3 million dollars. As a matter of fact the housing project has already started…we have already started with the installation of the infrastructure. We have started with the electricity and we have also completed the installation of water right here in the community,” he said.

Minister Martin went on to speak of the aim of the National Housing Corporation through the Habitat 30 initiative.

“It is the aim of the National Housing Corporation to invest in the people within the communities and that is why the homes will be built by residents here, contractors within the community and the roads will also be built by residents right here in the community so the monies will remain right here in the community as we continue to do our investment here for the people of fig tree area,” he said.

According to Minister Martin, the economic activity that will take place is expected to be enormous as it will have an impact on all areas of the community including providing jobs for many.
