$2,000 Digicel Scholaship Available To SKN High School Students

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (August 21st, 2012) -Since Digicel opened its doors to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, the corporate citizen has prided itself on not just providing great value and service, but also in the development of the nation’s people. Through Sports, Health, Culture and Education, Digicel continues to invest in the communities they serve. Continuing with this mandate, Digicel will be offering $2,000 worth of scholarships to two (2) High School Students in St. Kitts and Nevis.

With the Federation’s 29th Independence Anniversary on the horizon, High School students are invited to express their pride for their School in the form of an essay. To qualify to receive the Digicel Scholarship, students are expected to write an essay of fifty (50) words or more on”Why their High School is the Top School in St. Kitts and Nevis.” Essays can be emailed tosknscholarship@digicelgroup.com or hand delivered/mailed to the Digicel Offices & Stores, either at Port Zante or Fort Street in St. Kitts, as well as the Henville Building or #20 Solomon’s Arcade in Nevis. Envelopes must be addressed to the attention Digicel Scholarship Manager.

“Digicel is pleased to offer this Scholarship to two High School students, we know that in these times a child’s education is key to them progressing and achieving a bright future. This is just our way of helping the kids and the schools to enhance their educational experience, and remove some of the financial responsibilities from the parents and schools,” expressed Sean Latty, Country Manager for Digicel St. Kitts and Nevis. Latty has given his commitment to continue the Digicel Scholarship Programme in the future, allowing other students and schools to benefit.

Each Digicel Scholarship is worth $1,000, with $500 being awarded to the student and $500 to the High School of the winning recipient. Essays will be judged by an independent panel of judges, who have served in the Education Sector. Deadline for submission is Friday 7th September, 2012 and winners will be announced during the School’s Independence Celebrations.
