2019 National Consultation on the Economy

Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 8, 2019 (ZIZ News): The state of the economy of St. Kitts And Nevis, was the focus of discussion as the ministry of finance hosted the annual national consultation on the economy at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort on Tuesday.

The one day consultation which was held under the theme “The Digital Economy,” was attended by stakeholders drawn from the financial services, social development, agriculture, information and communication technology (ICT) and manufacturing and tourism sectors.

Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank Timothy Antoine said the annual national consultation on the economy is an important aspect of economic governance both in St. Kitts and Nevis and in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union.

Financial Secretary Hilary Hazel spoke of what was expected during the consultations, noting the importance of public private partnerships.

Prime Minister, Dr. Hon. Timothy Harris noted that in order to ensure a strong economy, government, civil society, diplomatic allies, regional & international partners, and advisors must continue to work together.

The 2019 National Consultation on the Economy also featured a panel discussion guided by the topic “Perspectives on the St. Kitts and Nevis Digital Economy”.
