26,000 cruise passengers last week, 62,000 so far for November

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 28TH 2011 (CUOPM) – Visits by the three cruise ships on Friday and Saturday brought the numbers of cruise passengers to 26,000 for that week and nearly 63,000 for the month of November to date.

According to figures from the Marine Department of the St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA), the 3,050-passenger capacity Carnival Victory arrived with a total of 3,401 passengers and the 3,114-passenger capacity Adventure of the Seas had a total of 3,654 passengers on board a total of 7,035 passengers on Friday. On Saturday, the 540-passenger capacity Silver Spirit berth at Port Zante with 540 passengers.

The visit by the 11 cruise ships brought some 26,028 passengers for last week and a total of 60,960 sun and fun-seeking cruisers for the month of November to date.

Ten ships are scheduled to visit St. Kitts this week with an estimated 23,000 passengers. They are the 450-passenger Seabourne Quest and the 3,840-passenger Explorer of the Seas on Sunday, the 3,100-passenger Ventura on Monday; the 3,114-passenger Adventure of the Seas on Tuesday; the 255-passenger Royal Clipper and the 3,840-passenger Navigator of the Seas on Wednesday; the 2,224 passenger Norwegian Dawn and the 180-passenger Star Clipper on Thursday; the 3,050-passenger Carnival Victory on Friday and the 3,597-passenger Azura on Saturday.

Over 625,000 cruise passengers are expected to visit during the 2011/2012 cruise ship season.
