6th Annual Independence Fiesta Set For Tonight

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 4, 2020 (ZIZ News):Preparations are underway ahead of the hosting of the 6th Annual Independence Fiesta slated for Friday.

ZIZ spoke with Chair of the Independence Fiesta Committee, Royd Phipps who explained that this year’s Fiesta is unlike any other, adding that it will be held in compliance with COVID-19 regulations.

“This is the first event on the Independence program and it is coming from Carnival village but virtually this year as we are going through the pandemic at this time”, he said.

He spoke of the various performances that persons can expect to see at the virtual event.

“We tried to get the program around the theme of Independence so we have on the first part of the program we always like to give God thanks for bringing us this far in Independence for 37 years. So we start off with gospel and some of the artistes we have are Blestina Charles and Kenyatta and the gospel band is the Rootz Band”.

Phipps also said that each segment of the concert focuses on a theme taken from our national anthem.

Musical entertainment will be provided by the J’nysis Band. A steelpan and dance selection, modelling and poetry are all included on the line-up.

The virtual Independence Fiesta begins at 7pm and will be available for viewing on ZIZ TV Channel 5 as well as all ZIZ’s social media platforms.
