6th Explorers Club launched
(ZIZ News)– 60 children have been introduced as the first members of the Ministry of National Security’s Lodge Explorers Club at a ceremony held at the Violet Petty Primary School at Lodge Project on Sunday.
The 6th of its kind, the Lodge Explorers Club caters to children in the Ottleys, Lodge, Lodge Project and Bourryeux areas.
Speaking at the launch, Prime Minister Dr. Hon. Timothy Harris expressed his confidence in the nation’s youth.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security Osmond Petty said it is believed that the Explorers Clubs can change communities.
Police Inspector Rosemary Isles-Joseph who spearheads the Explorers Youth Club Initiative encouraged parents to pay attention to their children.
Principal of Violet Petty Primary Tyrona Browne said the Lodge Explorers Club will assist in fostering positive behavioural changes.
An Explorers website and Facebook page were also introduced through the assistance of Ricky Barrate who is the parent of a Mol- Phil Explorer.
The Lodge Explorers club is 6th following the launch of the Mol-phil (Molineux-Phillips), Shadwell, St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s and Cayon Explorers Clubs.
The Explorers Youth Club initiative falls under the umbrella of the Ministry of National Security’s Social Intervention Programme, which is part of the Ministry’s broader crime prevention strategy geared towards strengthening character and promoting positive behaviour in young people.
