Tucker Clarke Titans Storm to Championship Victory
New Champions Emerge from Rain-Soaked Basseterre Zone Meet
BASSETERRE: Tucker Clarke Primary School has claimed the Basseterre Zone Public Primary School Championships crown, ending their title drought with a commanding performance that officials called “one of the most powerful championship performances in recent Basseterre Zone history.”
The Titans dominated the Bank of Nevis Limited-sponsored event, collecting 23 gold medals — six more than their nearest competitor — despite weather delays and a late start that threatened to derail the competition.
“From sprints to distance to relays, the Titans stood tall,” the Department of Sports announced, noting the school wasn’t even in contention for the top two positions last year.
Dr. William Connor Primary School mounted a fierce challenge throughout the day, securing 21 silver medals and 17 golds to finish second. Their consistent performances kept the title race competitive until the final events.
“Their athletes left everything on the track,” officials said of Connor’s determined effort.
Halliday-Smith Primary School and Beach Allen Primary School rounded out the podium positions, earning crucial points across multiple events despite challenging conditions.
Tucker Clarke’s medal haul of 51 total medals (23 gold, 14 silver, 14 bronze) represented a complete team effort, with depth across all age groups and event categories proving decisive.
The championships showcased what organizers described as “the true spirit of school athletics: resilience, pride, teamwork, and heart” as young athletes competed through adverse weather conditions.
All schools, athletes, coaches, and parents were congratulated for their outstanding contributions to the competition.
