FA Cup Update: Old Road over St. Paul’s
BASSETERRE — MFCR Old Road United Jets staged a dramatic comeback to reach the SKNFA FA Cup semifinals, remaining the only undefeated team in the Premier League as regular-season champions and current table leaders.
The Jets trailed 2-1 at halftime against S L Horsford St. Paul’s United on Wednesday but rallied for a 4-2 victory at Saddlers Playing Field in the quarterfinals.
Tiquanny Williams delivered a standout performance, scoring all four goals for Old Road in the 22nd, 51st (penalty), 52nd and 85th minutes. Kalonji Clarke and Keithroy Freeman had given St. Paul’s a 2-1 halftime lead with strikes in the 36th and 41st minutes.
Old Road, who sit atop the Premier League with an unbeaten record after sealing the regular-season title, extended their strong form into cup competition.
In other quarterfinal results at St. Peters Playing Field, RAMS Village Superstars cruised past T. Fraites & Assoc. Molineux Pitbulls 5-1. Dahjal Kelly opened in the 12th minute, Caaja Burnham added two (14th and 60th), Youvens Jeantilus struck in the 57th and Samani Williams finished in the 87th. Quanieki Clarke scored for Molineux in the 19th.
SOL Island Auto Conaree advanced past Development Bank St. Peters 2-2 (5-4 on penalties). Jayan Duncan and Tijani Fahie scored for Conaree, while Lyndon David and Tyquan Terrell replied for St. Peters. Conaree converted all five penalty kicks, with St. Peters netting four.
At Saddlers, Azul Cayon Rockets edged SKELEC Garden Hotspurs 0-0 (3-2 on penalties) after a goalless match.
Village, Conaree, Old Road and Cayon now await the semifinal draw.
