St. Kitts and Nevis Wins OECS Athletics Title

BASSETERRE — St. Kitts and Nevis has claimed the Association of National Olympic Committees of the OECS Athletics Championships, holding off a determined challenge from Antigua and Barbuda to finish atop the final points standing at the Kim Collin Athletic Stadium.

The two-day championship, held Saturday and Sunday, brought together athletes from nine OECS territories for track and field competition across multiple age groups and disciplines. St. Kitts and Nevis finished the tournament with 180 points, edging out Antigua and Barbuda, which closed with 171 points to finish runner-up.

The British Virgin Islands secured third place with 130 points, ahead of St. Vincent and the Grenadines with 123. Grenada finished fifth with 92 points, followed by Dominica with 76 and St. Lucia with 70. Anguilla and Montserrat rounded out the final standings with 35 and 11 points respectively.

The nine-point margin between the top two teams underscored a tightly contested championship, with St. Kitts and Nevis maintaining its lead from the second day through to the finish. The host nation’s victory on home soil at the Kim Collin Athletic Stadium marks a significant result for the federation’s athletics program.
