BASSETERRE: Prime Minister The Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew has expressed solidarity with Guyana following the deadly ferry disaster over the weekend.
The MV Barima capsized off the coast of Guyana late Saturday, prompting a major search and rescue operation.
In a statement, Dr. Drew said St. Kitts and Nevis stands with the people of Guyana, adding that the Caribbean remains one family in times of tragedy.
Speaking with reporters, he also delivered a personal message of support.
Dr. Drew said the loss has been felt across the region, particularly following the Federation’s maritime emergency, in which all passengers were rescued.
The prime minister said St. Kitts and Nevis will continue to keep Guyana in its prayers as the country responds to the disaster.
