Security Forces Football Camp Opens

BASSETERRE: The fourth edition of the Security Forces United FC 4th Annual Crime Intervention Summer Soccer Camp 2026was launched this morning at the NCI Grounds.

The camp runs from Monday, July 20th, to Monday, jolly 27th, with 400 registered young players taking part.

The participants will be guided by coaches from St. Kitts and Nevis, as well as the United Kingdom and Canada.

The camp was established in response to the rising crime rate and forms part of the federation’s public health approach to crime and violence.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Prime Minister and Minister of National Security Dr. Terrance Drew said the camp has had a positive impact on society.

Prime Drew has reinforced his commitment to youth development and crime prevention through a generous donation to the Security Forces Football Team in support of the camp.

The Prime Minister’s contribution will assist with the staging of the annual camp, an initiative that uses sport as a positive tool to engage young people during the summer vacation while promoting discipline, teamwork, confidence, physical fitness, and responsible social behaviour.

The donation underscores Prime Minister Drew’s continued support for programmes that provide safe, structured, and meaningful opportunities for children to learn, grow, and thrive.

The camp, which runs from July 20–31, 2026, at the NCI Grounds, will offer participants the opportunity to develop and improve their football skills, build lasting friendships, and train under experienced coaches in a supportive environment.

Prime Minister Drew told the young participants that football can help them develop the characteristics needed to become good citizens.

He also encouraged the participants to stay away from a life of crime.

Prime Minister Drew also announced that sponsorship for this year’s camp has increased.
