Newtown Downs Spurs 2-0

BASSETERRE — Saturday’s Matchweek Two doubleheader delivered contrasting results at the National Bank Group Technical Center, as Newtown United downed SKELEC Garden Hotspurs 2-0 while Village Superstars and Cayon Rockets FC played to a 2-2 draw.

Newtown United’s win keeps them among the league’s unbeaten sides through two matches, building on last week’s upset of defending champions Old Road United Jets. Garden Hotspurs, meanwhile, remain winless and without a goal scored through two weeks.

Village Superstars’ draw with Cayon Rockets ends their perfect start to the season, though the Superstars remain unbeaten. Cayon Rockets pick up their second straight draw after last weekend’s nine-man scoreless result against St. Peters FC.

Matchweek Two continues Sunday with St. Peters FC hosting Lodge Patriots at 5 p.m., followed by the round’s marquee clash between Old Road United Jets and St. Paul’s United at 7:30 p.m.
