Equinox, Maasdam among three cruise ships in port
Basseterre, St. Kitts (CUOPM) — Three cruise ships with nearly 8,000 passengers were in port Tuesday bringing to just over 12,000 for this week from five ships.
Docking at Port Zante were the Celebrity Equinox which arrived from St. Thomas with 2,875 passengers onboard and the Adventure of the Seas which also arrived from St. Thomas with 3,721 passengers. At the Deep Water Port was the Maasdam with 1,199 passengers having arrived from St. Maarten. A total of 7,795 passengers visited.
On Monday, two ships docked at Port Zante with a total of 4,765 passengers. 2,366 passengers were on the Celebrity Summit and 2,399 aboard the Jewel of the Seas.
Most of the 12,460 passengers from the five ships came ashore and went on tours of St. Kitts via taxis, the St. Kitts Scenic Railway and helicopter.
Some headed for the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, Romney Manor and Batik, sea and sun bathing on the beaches, walked around beautiful Basseterre, hiking to Mount Liamigua and to other trails, snorkeling, sailing to Nevis, horseback riding, golfing, casino gambling, shopping and biking, while others took time to surf the internet and make contact with friends and family.
The Independence of the Seas is scheduled to visit on Wednesday; the Aida Bella, Ventura and the wind surf on Thursday and the Carnival Valor on Friday.
