Police Commissioner Committed to continue reducing crime

CGWalwyn-8(ZIZ News) — Commissioner of Police, Dr. Celvin Walwyn has given a commitment to ensuring the continued downward trend in crime in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Commissioner Walwyn said since 2012, crime has dropped nearly 30 percent and he intends to reduce it even further.

“Regardless of the naysayers and the negativism that you may have heard the crime for last year, ranging from 2012 to 2014 has been down 29.4 percent. And we continue to reduce crime. I’m still waiting for the stats for this month. Even again as I have always said, with challenges, crime has trended down, crime will continue to trend down,” he outlined.

He also credited the Government for its support of the anti-crime unit, and ongoing crime fighting measures.

Commissioner Walwyn’s comments come as the Police Force’s expansion of its Closed Circuit TV programme now covers Frigate Bay.
